Parents' self-centered actions leading to traffic
Online users are calling for increased mindfulness from parents during school drop-offs and pick-ups. Some parents' leisurely pace in these areas is leading to traffic jams. Dean Syahzrain, a commenter, shared that he now opts for a motorcycle to avoid delays. "Many parents do this. I've switched to a motorcycle. If I drive, I park farther away and walk. Some even block the school gate with their motorcycles, as if they're the only ones with a child," he lamented.
Zaeem Zainal echoed these sentiments, noting parents who double park, obstructing traffic. "They walk their child to the gate, deliver messages, hug and kiss them, then wait until they're out of sight before leaving," he observed. Syamira Norli added that this behavior prompted the school to implement one-way traffic flow.
Suggestions emerged online, with Izwan Izzat proposing bypassing congested areas by dropping off children behind slower cars. Kalida suggested school administrations take charge, citing her child's school's efficient drop-off system with timed intervals and stationed guards.
Some compared these challenges with practices in Chinese vernacular schools, where children exit immediately, reducing congestion.
