Klang Valley Malaysians Are Quitting Their Jobs Due to Unbearable Traffic Congestion
The traffic in Klang Valley is no joke, and those who commute by car every morning can attest to the chaos.
While public transport can be a helpful alternative, peak-hour crowds can be overwhelming, especially when trains are delayed or out of service. The frustration can be difficult to bear, as one Malaysian woman recently highlighted in a post on X under the username @mirakoru7, where she revealed she had resigned from her job.
The constant traffic had affected her mental and emotional well-being to the point that she felt it was not worth the toll.
“Finally, I resigned. I can’t take the traffic anymore. I leave home at 6:15 a.m. every day, and by the time I get home, my husband and kids are already asleep.”
Amirah shared that not knowing how to ride a motorbike made her daily commute even more daunting. Surprisingly, she’s not alone in her decision to leave behind the traffic woes of Klang Valley.
Other Malaysian netizens also admitted feeling happier after leaving Kuala Lumpur, citing traffic as one of the main reasons for their decision. Some even took a leap of faith by resigning from stable government jobs due to the stressful commutes.
“I resigned without any backup plan. I worked hard to find a job in my hometown and was only unemployed for a week. Now, it only takes me 10 minutes to get to work.”
“I served my one-month notice without a Plan B. My notice period is almost up, and I hope to secure a new job by then. Enduring the daily two-hour commute, along with a toxic work environment, was exhausting.”
“I just submitted my resignation letter. I hope I’m strong enough to handle the aunties who’ll criticize me for leaving a government job. They’ll probably say I’m ungrateful.”
“I commuted over 30 km every day for more than two years. Now, I work from home. It wasn’t easy at first, but it’s so much better now.”
“I resigned, too. I couldn’t handle having to attend to clients while on vacation with my family and being glued to my laptop. I’m on a career break now but will start a new job after Raya.”
