Gen Z Saves Over RM60k in Less Than a Year by Working 4 Jobs to Achieve Financial Freedom
A young woman from Fujian, China, spends the majority of her day juggling four different jobs in pursuit of financial freedom.
In a viral post on Douyin by @仔仔非常爱生活, the woman, in her early 20s, revealed the harsh reality that a single full-time job isn’t enough to cover her expenses. Determined to achieve financial independence as quickly as possible, she took on multiple jobs, sacrificing most of her leisure time due to her demanding schedule.
With such heavy responsibilities, she admits to getting only about four hours of sleep each day.
“My full-time job starts at 5:30 AM, so I have to wake up at 4 in the morning. My shift ends at 5:30 PM, though I do get some breaks in between,” she shared.
Her main job is in the food and beverage industry, where she is often seen doing prep and cleaning work in the kitchen, as shown in her Douyin vlogs. But her day doesn’t end after 12 hours on her feet. She continues her hustle with two part-time jobs, including working as a cinema usher, while also managing her own website.
“After my full-time job, I work two other part-time jobs and run my site. I can only go to bed around 12:30 AM,” she explained.
When asked about the toll of her packed schedule, she responded:
“It’s more exhausting to earn only RMB2,000 (about RM1,230) a month and struggle to get by. I make much more with multiple jobs, so it’s worth it.”
Her efforts pay off—she earns around RMB10,000 (approximately RM6,180) monthly across all her jobs. In under a year, this significant increase in income has enabled her to save an impressive RMB100,000 (about RM61,700).
She credits her strong saving habits, developed since childhood, for her ability to manage her finances effectively.
Balancing multiple jobs inevitably comes at the cost of personal time, especially when peers are out enjoying themselves. But for her, the trade-off seems worthwhile. Would you make a similar sacrifice?
