Rider Fatally Struck in Bangsar as Lorry Reverses Rapidly Into Traffic
A motorcyclist tragically lost his life after being run over by a lorry that reversed into traffic in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the lorry suddenly reversing at high speed onto the main road near a traffic light. The vehicle struck the motorcyclist, killing him instantly, before colliding with another car on the opposite side of the road.
Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, head of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), stated that police received a report about the incident at 8:34 am on November 23.
The 32-year-old lorry driver has been detained for questioning. According to the police, the driver had been refilling the vehicle’s brake fluid at a construction site when the lorry unexpectedly reversed, breaking through the site’s security gate. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Despite attempts to avoid the out-of-control lorry, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
