A local man recently shared a life-changing experience after surviving a devastating road accident that resulted in the amputation of his leg.

The Road Transport Department of Malaysia (JPJ) featured Mohd Syafique, a dedicated employee from the Sungai Besi Delivery Branch, in a video highlighting his story.

“I Had to Make a Choice”

Syafique, affectionately known as “Pos Wira,” recounted the tragedy, emphasizing the importance of road safety. He explained that the accident occurred when a car overtook another vehicle from the opposite direction while he was making a delivery.

Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors informed him that his leg was severely damaged and required amputation.

“My leg was destroyed. It was either lose my leg or lose my life. So I had to choose,” he shared.

Since losing his leg, Syafique admitted to struggling with daily tasks and often falling at home.

“Living with Permanent Disabilities”

Syafique urged motorcyclists to prioritize safety, stressing that even a moment of carelessness can have life-altering consequences.

“If the driver had followed the rules, maybe I’d still be able to swim,” he reflected.

In Malaysia, reckless driving and speeding result in over 6,000 fatalities annually, leaving countless families to cope with loss and shattered futures.
