Two Motorcyclists, Including a 16-Year-Old, Die in Crash While Racing on Klang Road
Despite repeated warnings and efforts to emphasize the dangers of performing stunts on highways, illegal riders, often referred to as Mat Rempits, continue to ride recklessly, endangering themselves and other road users.
A viral video on X recently captured a group of Mat Rempits speeding moments before an accident occurred.
In an official statement, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) confirmed that the accident involved four riders, with two fatalities.
"One of them died at the scene, and the other succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital," said Cha Hoong Fong, Chief Police of the Southern Klang district.
The accident occurred around 4:30 AM on Sunday, August 4. The deceased were aged 16 and 22.
The police reported that several groups of riders had been performing dangerous stunts along the road from the Pandamaran Sports Complex towards Port Klang, before returning to repeat the stunts.
The incident is being investigated under section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Cha also noted that this area is a frequent spot for teenagers to engage in dangerous group motorcycle activities, despite ongoing police operations.
The PDRM urged parents and guardians to monitor their children closely.
"Stay vigilant. Ensure they avoid illegal activities that could endanger their lives and the lives of other road users."
