Going on vacation is supposed to be relaxing. However, a video of a tour guide scolding tourists in her group recently went viral.

According to China Press and CCTV, the tour to Tianjin, China, was organized by a local travel agency and led by a female tour guide named Deng.

In the video, Deng can be heard chastising the tourists for not spending enough money at the attraction.

“There are 52 people here and you all only spent a total of 900 yuan (RM580). I lost a lot of money from this. So many people came out empty-handed when I asked you to buy as much as possible.”

She continued, “You are all so old. I don’t know what’s wrong with you. You are embarrassing the people of Taiyuan (where the tour group was from).”

“If you spend money, you are God. If you don’t spend money, you are sh*t!” she shouted.

Deng then demanded those who hadn't bought anything to return to the store and spend at least 1,000–2,000 yuan (RM644–1,288) before leaving.

It is understood that this video was taken mere hours into their 4-day trip.

After the video went viral, the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism investigated and found that the tour guide was unlicensed.

“Her tour guide certificate was revoked on September 9, 2023, as she did not apply for renewal after its expiration.”

The authorities plan to fine her up to 30,000 yuan (RM19,325) and confiscate the profit she made from the tour group. This penalty will be decided after relevant legal procedures are completed.
