Singapore Recalls Malaysian Mooncakes Due to E. coli Contamination
KUALA LUMPUR: The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has issued a recall of a mooncake imported from Malaysia after finding E. coli levels above the permissible limit.
In a Facebook post, the SFA reported that E. coli was detected in the Snow Skin Signature Yam Mooncake from Baker's Cottage.
The recall is currently in progress.
"E. coli is a bacteria commonly found in the intestines of humans and animals. It can be introduced into food during production through cross-contamination," the agency explained.
Consumers who have purchased the affected mooncakes are advised not to eat them.
The SFA also urged individuals who have consumed the mooncakes and are concerned about their health to seek medical advice.
