Family of Malaysian Killed in Singapore Urges Return of Phone Taken from Accident Scene
A 33-year-old Malaysian man, Muhammad Isma Azwa Md Salleh, tragically lost his life in an accident on his way to work near Changi Beach Park, Singapore, on Tuesday, November 5, around 8 a.m. He was riding his Vespa motorcycle on a straight road when a car made a turn and collided with him.
Adding to the family’s distress, his mobile phone was allegedly taken from the accident scene.
As reported by Berita Harian SG, the deceased’s sister-in-law, 37-year-old Nurshahirah Nadiah Mohammad Azan, revealed that the night before the accident, he had informed his wife of personal details saved in his phone’s notes.
“The deceased had told his wife the night before that he had written a note on his phone, including his nazar (vows to Allah SWT) and details about a bank account he set up for their son,” she said.
However, when police, family, and friends searched for the phone at the accident site, it was missing.
“We know his phone was taken because his wife could check its previous shared location. The iPhone appears to have been moved, but we haven’t been able to pinpoint its exact location,” she added.
Two years before the accident, Muhammad Isma and his wife, both originally from Kelantan and now parents to an eight-month-old son, had relocated from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru so he could commute to his job in Singapore.
His family is now appealing for public assistance in retrieving the phone.
Speaking directly to the person who may have the phone, his sister-in-law said, “If you intend to sell it, please sell it to us. We are not angry; we just want the phone back.”
Anyone with information about the phone is asked to contact his wife or family immediately. They can reach Ms. Norshahirah Nabihah at +60 19766 5773 or Ms. Nurshahirah Nadiah at +60 13969 6212.
