Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim has consistently upheld his promise to forgo a salary after winning the 15th General Election (GE15). Even six months into his tenure, he remains steadfast in this commitment.

Despite this, Anwar ranks 17th on a list of the world’s 18 wealthiest leaders, with alleged assets valued at USD 2.4 million (approximately RM11 million), according to a recently published financial report.

In November 2022, Anwar declared his assets, including a house and three plots of land, to set an example and encourage opposition candidates to do the same before the elections.

The report also highlighted that Anwar opted not to use a Mercedes-Benz limousine purchased by a previous Prime Minister currently serving a prison sentence for corruption charges.
