33-Year-Old Man Arrested for Allegedly Operating Online Prostitution Ring in Singapore
A 33-year-old man, accused of helping to operate an online vice syndicate, is set to be charged in court on Oct. 23 under the Women’s Charter.
He was among 12 women and five men arrested by the police on Oct. 21 for alleged offences related to drugs and prostitution. The suspects range in age from 20 to 50.
The police uncovered their alleged illegal activities during raids in areas such as Airport Boulevard, Geylang Road, Dover Road, Jurong West Street 64, Minbu Road, Upper Serangoon Road, and Upper Thomson Road.
Additional arrests According to a police press release on Oct. 23, two other men are also under investigation by the Central Narcotics Bureau, including a 38-year-old and a 50-year-old, for alleged drug-related offences.
Investigations into the other 15 suspects are ongoing.
Anyone found guilty of profiting from another person’s prostitution faces up to seven years in prison and fines up to S$100,000. Those who aid in the prostitution of another person could face the same penalties. Even if such actions are carried out remotely from outside Singapore, offenders can be fined up to S$100,000, imprisoned for up to five years, or both.
Seized items During the operation, police seized over S$6,100 in cash, phones, vice-related items, controlled drugs, and drug paraphernalia. All of these items were confiscated.
