Sad News: Andre Braugher, Renowned as Captain Holt in Brooklyn 99, Passes Away at 61

The most delightful interactions on the show often occurred between characters Jake Peralta and Captain Holt. Learning about the passing of the actor who portrayed and brought Captain Holt to life is undeniably heart-wrenching.
According to a report from Variety, Andre Braugher, the talented actor behind Captain Holt in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, passed away on Monday (December 11) at the age of 61, succumbing to an illness.
With an illustrious acting career, Braugher had previously garnered awards for his roles in television series and films such as Thief, Homicide: Life on the Street, Frequency, and, notably, Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Andre leaves behind his wife, Ami Brabson, and three children.
Colleagues who had the privilege of working with Andre Braugher often regarded him as a mentor figure and a source of joy. Actor Terry Crews expressed his grief on Instagram, saying, "Can't believe you're gone so soon. I'm honored to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you, and shared 8 glorious years watching your irreplaceable talent. This hurts. You left us too soon. You taught me so much. I will be forever grateful for the experience of knowing you. Thank you for your wisdom, your advice, your kindness, and your friendship."
