Malaysians Granted Visa-Free Travel to China Until December 2025

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian, announced the extension of the 15-day visa-free policy until December 31, 2025, for citizens from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

Under this policy, citizens of these 12 countries holding ordinary passports can enter and stay in China for up to 15 days without the need for a visa, for purposes such as business, tourism, family visits, and transit.

However, visitors who do not meet the specified purposes of their visit or exceed the 15-day limit will still be required to apply for visas to enter China.

China initially introduced this visa-free privilege in November of the preceding year. Prior to this recent extension, the visa-free policy was scheduled to be effective from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2024.

As of November 2023, the following travel conditions and requirements will be implemented for inbound travelers:

  1. Health Declaration Cards are no longer mandatory. However, individuals with symptoms of or diagnosed with infectious diseases must voluntarily declare their health status to China Customs.
  2. Travelers staying in China for 15 days or less do not need to obtain visas.
  3. Those planning to stay in China for more than 15 days must obtain a visa prior to entry. Guidance on visa application procedures for Malaysians is available.
  4. All travelers must complete an arrival and departure card, providing details of their trip and accommodation in China. These documents will be distributed by airline staff or available at immigration checkpoints.
