Malaysia’s Sambal Tycoon Khairul Aming Closes Factories and Grants 100 Employees a Holiday
PENANG – Khairul Amin Kamarulzaman, the well-known food entrepreneur and influencer, popularly called Khairul Aming, has once again made headlines. He recently shared a video showing that he had closed both his factories in Kelantan for five days to reward his staff with a holiday in Penang.
Famous for his Sambal Nyet and Dendeng Nyet Berapi products, Khairul posted the video on Instagram on Sept 12, which quickly went viral. His team enjoyed a fun-filled holiday, and the video garnered over 1.6 million views within just two hours.
In his Instagram post, he wrote, "We closed the factory for five days to take all 100 staff on a holiday to Penang. Everyone received a seaview room at a five-star hotel and pocket money for shopping. The main goal was for them to rest and enjoy their vacation."
The 31-year-old entrepreneur from Kota Baru added in the video, "This was a mandatory trip. Our company trips have no meetings, speeches, or KPI discussions. It’s all about relaxing and having fun. Some watched the sunset, others enjoyed the pool."
The staff's holiday began on Sept 3, and true to his generous reputation, Khairul gifted each of them envelopes of cash for shopping. He also treated them to a series of activities, including a visit to a water theme park, beach water sports, and several buffet meals.
Khairul is widely admired for his kindness, ensuring his employees feel valued. A highlight of the trip was a meal at a famous nasi kandar restaurant, which cost nearly RM3,500 (S$1,050).
"Alhamdulillah, this is my fourth year with them, and they have been very loyal. We only have two products, and I hope to keep sharing our blessings with the team," Khairul said.
The video attracted nearly 4,000 comments within two hours, with many praising Khairul as an exemplary boss.
One user, Nurulhuda_153, commented, "Look at how Khairul Aming treats his staff, like friends. They get vacations, bonuses, and luxurious perks, yet he remains humble. Truly the best. We need more bosses like him."
Another, Fellaferina, wrote, "I feel like crying. Khairul Aming puts his heart into everything he does, and this trip shows how sincere he is."
In 2021, Khairul launched Sambal Nyet Berapi, a spicy chili sambal, followed by Dendeng Nyet Berapi in February 2023. He sold RM1.2 million worth of Dendeng Nyet Berapi in just three minutes. Khairul is also known for his viral Ramadan cooking series, 30 Hari 30 Resepi.
On Sept 3, he met New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon at Hidang KL, a meeting arranged in appreciation of Khairul’s recent trip to New Zealand to create cooking content.
