Malay Husband with Chinese Wife Offers Essential Mandarin Lunar New Year Greetings
It's no secret that Chinese New Year celebrations in Malaysia hold a unique charm, with halal bakkwa, yee sang, biscuits, and most notably, the coming together of people from mixed racial backgrounds to celebrate the festivities.
Not wanting to miss out on the excitement, this couple, particularly the wife, wanted to share something special her non-Chinese husband did for this year's Lunar New Year celebration.
"So, I've been married to this beloved, handsome man for five years," the wife exclaimed. "He's definitely not Chinese; he's Malay. But he's been with my family long enough to learn how to wish Happy Chinese New Year in Chinese."
As she prepped her husband for the big reveal, poised and facing the camera, the husband confidently exclaimed in Mandarin, "Happy new year! Wishing you good health! May everything go well!"
Concluding the video by mentioning that her family members would be envious of her this Chinese New Year, some in the comments expressed their curiosity about her family's reaction to the greetings.
