Walid Abu Ali, the Palestinian ambassador to Malaysia, has expressed gratitude to the people and government of Malaysia for their steadfast support of the Palestinian cause.

He applauded the public for showing their sympathy in a number of ways, such as by boycotting companies and goods associated with Israel, and the government for maintaining a firm position on the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

He highlighted that any actions made in favour of Palestine, such as the demand for a boycott of companies that are purportedly pro-Israeli, might lessen the suffering of the Palestinian people.

"It is my encouragement that Malaysians, Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims, and all those who uphold democracy and human rights take part in the small gesture of boycotting all goods that benefit Israel."

Israelis gain from a wide range of globally recognised companies. However, in the last three weeks, I believe you have seen the tremendous economic impact this boycott has had on them. It has put pressure on the Israeli government, which commits acts of terrorism against Palestine, and made them realise that their actions have an effect on the economy as well, he stated at a press conference.

"No one can question Malaysia's support, but as Palestinians, we want Malaysia to take an active part in local, regional, and global affairs. As a powerful nation, Malaysia has the potential to influence those in Asia who, for whatever reason, do not support Palestine to demonstrate their support, the speaker continued.

Walid outlined the current four goals, the first of which is an immediate ceasefire to end Israeli atrocities in Palestine and the second of which is the opening of a humanitarian corridor to allow outside aid into Gaza.
