Kuching's Christmas Carol Achieves Malaysia Book of Records Recognition with Nearly 2.5K Attendees, Setting a New Record for Highest Attendance
With just three weeks remaining until Christmas, the festive spirit has enveloped malls, restaurants, and offices with beautifully arranged decorations, leaving us eagerly anticipating the joyous day.
Beyond the visual splendor of festive adornments, Christmas Carols have become a delightful means of uniting celebrants. In Kuching, a remarkable Christmas Carol took place last night (December 3), attracting an unexpected multitude of attendees. A staggering 2,479 people participated in the event, which was broadcast live on WOW Sarawak’s Facebook page.
What makes this celebration even more special is that the Christmas Carol at Padang Merdeka, Kuching, has earned a coveted spot in the Malaysia Book of Records for achieving the highest attendance. This unexpected triumph brought an early Christmas cheer to the hearts of those present in Kuching.
TVS, the TV station responsible for organizing the Christmas Carol, shared that the diverse crowd came together to joyously sing classic Christmas songs like "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," "Feliz Navidad," and "O’ Holy Night."
Expressing their surprise, TVS revealed, “We expected only around 1,500 attendees for the event last night, but the outcome surprised us.” The attendance nearly doubled the initial expectations. The event, aptly named "A Christmas Carol: Sarawak in Diversity," serves as a testament to Sarawak's commitment to fostering unity among people of different races, ethnicities, and cultures.
“It also shows our dedication in bringing together people of different backgrounds,” added TVS. The event serves as a valuable platform for promoting peace and harmony, embodying Sarawak's commitment to celebrating diversity.
