King of the River: Myvi Spotted Casually Driving Through Strong River Currents in Sabah
Despite losing its sales crown to its sibling, the Bezza, last year, the Perodua Myvi remains the 'king of the road' in Malaysia, known for its many feats and antics on the road.
A recent video making the rounds online perfectly illustrates this reputation, showing a white Myvi casually driving across a river in Penampang, Sabah.
Shared by @laychannel05 on TikTok, the video captures the white Myvi driving across the Sungai Moyog on Timpangoh Road. Despite the river's strong current and proximity to a cascade, the Myvi confidently and slowly makes its way across, seemingly unaffected by the water.
In the 36-second clip, the Myvi successfully navigates the river, reaching the other side where a Perodua Bezza waits its turn to cross.
Comments reveal that this river crossing is the only route to a village on the other side, making it a necessary challenge for road users. Many Malaysians found the Myvi driver's action bold, considering the vehicle's lighter weight compared to the 4-wheel-drive pickup trucks usually seen tackling such currents.
One commenter praised the driverβs technique of moving slowly through the shallow river rather than at high speed, which could have made the car more vulnerable to the current. Another commenter questioned the lack of an alternative route to the village.
One theory suggested in the comments was that the Myvi might have been carrying a heavy load, giving the driver confidence in crossing the river.
