Drunk 28-Year-Old Malaysian Driver Runs Red Light, Hits 11-Year-Old Student Crossing the Road in Port Dickson
A serious road accident recently took place in Port Dickson involving a primary school student on her way to school. According to the Port Dickson District Police, a 28-year-old male driver ran a red light, colliding with the 11-year-old student from Port Dickson National School as she attempted to cross the road.
The incident happened on October 24 at around 7:10 AM, with the driver traveling from Port Dickson town towards Kemang Bay. The collision caused the student to suffer a broken right toe and additional injuries to her leg and hand.
Following the accident, police conducted an alcohol test on the driver, revealing a blood alcohol level of 203mg/100ml, surpassing the legal limit of 153mg/100ml. The driver was subsequently taken into custody from October 24 to 27, and the case is being investigated under Section 44(1A) of the Road Transport Act 1987. If convicted, he faces a potential prison sentence of 7 to 10 years and a fine between RM30,000 and RM50,000.
