ICA presents birthday cake to Malaysian Immigration Department in celebration of 67th Merdeka Day.
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) had previously received a cake from their Malaysian counterparts to mark Singapore’s 59th National Day.
In a gesture of goodwill, ICA commanders from Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints presented a cake to their Malaysian counterparts at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar CIQ (customs, immigration, and quarantine) in celebration of Malaysia’s 67th Merdeka Day.
The exchange was highlighted on Facebook to commemorate the occasion.
Traditions
This cake exchange is part of an annual tradition where the two agencies exchange cakes and extend well wishes to each other on Singapore’s National Day and Malaysia’s Merdeka Day (not to be confused with Malaysia Day).
ICA expressed their commitment to maintaining the strong partnership between Malaysia and Singapore customs, supporting trade and safe travel between the two countries.
