Dog Patiently Waits in Bath as Owner Forgets Mid-Bathing
A dog named Dabai, meaning 'Big White,' demonstrated remarkable patience when its owner completely forgot about bath time.
A 23-second video featuring the white-furred dog sitting obediently in a bathtub has gone viral on Chinese social media platform Douyin.
Dabai's owner, who goes by @天上掉下个大白酱, shared the video with the caption, "When mum is chatting away with a salesperson and forgets about Dabai in the bathroom."
The camera then shows the living room, where the owner's mother is deeply engrossed in a conversation with a salesperson.
Amused by the situation, the son asks his mother where the dog is.
Initially too focused on the products being discussed, it takes the mother a moment to process her son's question.
Suddenly remembering her soggy friend, the mother quickly jumps up from the sofa and rushes to the bathroom, her face a mix of guilt and amusement.
She finds Dabai still waiting patiently in the bath, surrounded by dispersing bubbles.
Dabai, waterlogged but relieved to see his forgetful owner, looks up with soulful eyes that seem to say, "I knew you'd come back eventually."
Seeing Dabai's soggy, adorable state, the mother tries to soothe the canine, giving him gentle rubs.
"Why didn't you bark to call me?" she asks.
In a moment of comedic timing, Dabai looks directly into the camera, much like a character in The Office, as if to say, "I can't believe she forgot about me."
Though the exact duration of Dabai's wait is unclear, some netizens speculated based on his half-dried fur.
"Judging by the drying condition, it was at least 40 minutes," one netizen estimated.
However, it appears all is forgiven between the dog and his scatterbrained owner, as Dabai resumed his bath.
The owner shared an adorable picture of Dabai smiling for the camera with the caption, "Grandma must've had a reason for forgetting."
Creative netizens started sharing memes online, inspired by Dabai's hilarious but relatable expression.
"My mood is very stable and I just want to talk," joked one netizen, attaching a screenshot of Dabai's unamused expression.
