Broga Hill Engulfed in Flames Last Night, But Thanks to Bomba, Crisis Averted
Residents of Semenyih likely experienced a moment of sheer alarm yesterday evening (March 17) when Broga Hill, a popular hiking spot, became engulfed in flames.
Fortunately, firefighters from various stations swiftly intervened to douse the extensive blaze.
The official Facebook page of the Semenyih Fire and Rescue Department shared footage and insights into the incident, which occurred on Sunday at 7:39 pm.
Their post read, "Fire reported at the summit of Broga Hill 1, with an estimated area of approximately 5 acres."
In their updates, personnel from Semenyih, Bangi, Ampang, and Serdang fire departments were seen receiving briefings before commencing firefighting efforts.
Additionally, members of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Task Emergency Medical Services (TEMS), and Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) were on-site to lend support.
"After assessing the situation, it was evident that the forest fire on Broga Hill was spreading rapidly, covering an estimated area of 5 acres," they stated.
"Our team diligently extinguished the fire using extinguishers and employed firebreak tactics to contain the spread, eventually achieving complete extinguishment. Subsequently, we conducted thorough monitoring to ensure no residual fire hazards remained," they elaborated.
Once reassured that there was no risk of reignition, the teams demobilized and concluded their operation.
