Australia Reviews Visa Application Process for Malaysian Visitors with Highest Overstay Rates
Per @NewsBFM reports, Australia is reportedly reassessing the visa application process for Malaysians entering the country due to concerns over overstays. According to the report, Malaysia consistently records the highest number of overstayers arriving on tourist visas, as noted by its High Commissioner, Danielle Heinecke, in an interview with BFM.
It has been noted that Malaysians now face additional documentation requirements when applying for visas to enter Australia. High Commissioner Danielle Heinecke emphasized that Australia is actively exploring methods to improve visa processing times and other measures.
During the interview, Danielle also indicated that adjustments would be made to ensure alignment with their goal of strengthening business-to-people links in their relationship. "There is ongoing work in this area, and it remains a lively conversation," she added.
While travel can be an exciting experience, it is crucial to adhere to the rules of your entry visa and avoid overstaying. Even a brief overstay can lead to penalties, detention, deportation, or future entry bans.
