WATCH: Woman Caught Swapping Cheaper Eggs for Expensive Ones, Draws Criticism from Malaysians
Egg swapping, the practice of picking the best eggs from different cartons to assemble a perfect set, is a common sight at supermarkets. However, some have taken it a step further by replacing cheaper eggs with premium ones to save money.
In a viral Twitter video, a woman was caught meticulously transferring eggs from the top shelf into a carton on a lower shelf. According to the video's caption, she allegedly swapped expensive Grade A eggs into a cheaper Grade B carton, aiming to buy premium eggs at a lower price.
The video, which has amassed over 1.5 million views on X (formerly Twitter), sparked outrage among netizens:
“If you can’t afford it, just accept it. Better yet, raise your own chickens at home if you want cheap eggs,” one user quipped.
Another remarked, “So petty. Just a few cents’ difference, and you’re swapping? Will paying extra for better quality really break the bank?”
Others shared their own encounters with similar behavior:
“This happens all the time. When I worked at Aeon, we had to station security guards near the egg section,” one commenter revealed.
Another added, “I saw this just a few days ago at Speedmart. At first, I thought they were staff, but it turned out to be a customer.”
