Urgent: Microsoft Outage Disrupts Flights Globally, Including at KLIA2
Microsoft is currently experiencing a significant service outage impacting users worldwide. However, the situation is more severe as reported by The Straits Times: international flights are facing major delays and cancellations. Singapore’s Changi Airport and Malaysia’s KLIA are also affected, with long queues forming as passengers are required to check in manually.
For now, the check-in process must be done manually.
Airports in the USA and Australia are also experiencing substantial delays as of July 19. According to the Wall Street Journal, the likely cause of the Microsoft outage is a recent update of CrowdStrike’s Falcon sensor.
Globally, users are also encountering the familiar "blue death screen," known as the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). NDTV World reported that this error is due to a recent CrowdStrike update.
In a brief statement on X, Microsoft mentioned that it is investigating an issue affecting various Microsoft 365 apps and services.
Additionally, a live update from CNN revealed that live news broadcasts in the UK were interrupted due to the breakdown, with the network’s executive chairman David Rhodes apologizing to viewers for the disruption.
