"They Embraced Our Cuisine" – Nigerian Couple Brings Authentic African Fare to Cheras Food Court
Given our distance from the African continent, their cuisine seldom makes its way to our shores. However, the surge of TikTok and short-form content has afforded us glimpses into their lifestyle and culinary traditions, sparking our curiosity.
Recently, a video surfaced on TikTok from a food court in Cheras, featuring a stall operator discussing his Nigerian heritage and the authentic African dishes they offer.
The stall, run by a Nigerian couple, has gained popularity for its dishes like beef stew and stir-fried vegetables, which have become favorites among Malaysians.
Originally a pastor, the husband turned to food sales in Malaysia after the pandemic disrupted his ministry. Despite initial rejections from other establishments, they found acceptance at Big Three Kopitiam.
Their journey wasn't without challenges. Initially, they struggled to attract customers, but gradually gained traction. The husband credits his wife and faith for their resilience.
He expresses gratitude towards God, his wife, and the kopitiam management, whose support has made him appreciate Malaysia even more.
