PDRM Conducts Raids on 2 KL Food Courts Following Reports of Prostitution Flourishing
The police responded to reports of prostitution activities in Kuala Lumpur by conducting raids on 11 premises, including two food courts.
On Saturday, 16 March, the New Straits Times reported that the police arrested 47 individuals in Jalan Pudu and Jalan Bukit Bintang as part of their anti-prostitution efforts.
According to Dang Wangi police chief ACP Noor Dellhan Yahaya, among the 11 raided premises were two brothels, seven massage parlours, and two food courts.
Initial investigations revealed that the operations often started at the food courts, where clients would purchase garlands as a signal for engaging in sexual activities with sex workers elsewhere.
During the raids, the police confiscated various items including condoms, massage oils, towels, receipts, work schedules, garlands, CCTVs, microphones, modems, mobile phones, and RM4,730 in cash.
Out of the 47 individuals apprehended, 25 were foreign women, 14 were foreign men, and eight were locals.
The case is now under investigation under Section 372B of the Penal Code for prostitution, as well as Section 55B and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act, as reported by Harian Metro.
