Perak Religious Department Urges Cancellation of Coldplay's Malaysian Concert as a Gesture of Respect for Gaza War Victims
Majlis Ulama ISMA (MUIS), an official religious department in Perak, has released a statement expressing opposition to the upcoming Coldplay concert scheduled for next week, urging for its immediate cancellation.
Citing the current inappropriateness of hosting such an event, MUIS highlighted their stance against the concert, emphasizing their concerns about Coldplay's support for the LGBT community.
MUIS pointed to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where numerous lives have been lost, asserting that hosting a concert at this time is not appropriate. They called upon the Muslim community to refrain from attending the show, emphasizing Coldplay's purported association with LGBT advocacy.
The organization deemed it a religious transgression to overlook the events unfolding in Palestine, cautioning that individuals may be held accountable for such indifference in the future.
In addition to calling for the cancellation of the concert as a gesture of respect, MUIS emphasized the need to acknowledge the ongoing attacks and bombings in Palestine, with casualties exceeding 11,000.
MUIS urged all parties to fulfill their responsibilities in assisting the Palestinians through actions such as prayers, aid, and raising awareness. Meanwhile, Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour includes performances in Tokyo, Jakarta, and Perth, in addition to Malaysia.
