“Only Allah Knows if I Sinned” – Viral KL Claypot Chicken Rice Owner Affirms Use of Halal Ingredients
A Malay-owned claypot chicken rice stall in Sri Petaling, KL, went viral last year following allegations of using non-halal ingredients. The stall owner, Ahmad Muzakin, has consistently denied these claims.
JAKIM confirmed via Facebook that they have never issued a halal certificate to this stall. Recently, the business regained attention on social media after being featured on the TikTok page @ezlokal.food, raising fresh concerns among Muslim consumers.
In a recent video, the owner’s wife reiterated that they have always used halal ingredients but clarified that the stall does not possess a halal certificate.
“We don’t have a halal certificate, but we always use halal ingredients,” she stated.
She also showed the interviewer an image of JAKIM officers who had previously visited the stall and observed their food preparations.
“If I really committed sins, Allah would know,” she added.
Aside from the claypot chicken rice, the stall also serves claypot duck and lamb rice, based on her own recipes.
The business initially went viral over claims of using rice wine in cooking, which Ahmad has refuted. He also mentioned that he is in the process of obtaining a halal certification for the stall.
