Not Guilty Plea from 13-Year-Old Boy Accused of Attempted Robbery and Stabbing of 65-Year-Old E-Hailing Driver in Kedah
On the evening of November 27, reports surfaced of a 13-year-old attempting a robbery by brandishing a knife and trying to stab a Grab driver before fleeing.
Fortunately, the driver escaped unharmed as the boy only succeeded in stabbing the seatbelt. Subsequently, the teenager was apprehended by the police, but not before a video capturing the altercation went viral on various social media platforms.
In the latest development, the 13-year-old was formally charged in the Magistrate’s Court on December 3 with attempting to rob a 65-year-old e-hailing driver in Taman Keladi, Sungai Petani, Kedah.
As reported by BERNAMA, the accused entered a plea of not guilty before Magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani. The charge, as per Section 393 of the Penal Code, carries a potential sentence of up to 7 years in prison and a fine upon conviction.
The court granted the boy bail amounting to RM4,000 with one surety, and the case is scheduled for mention on January 17, 2024.
