Malaysian Wishes for Company Closure After Receiving Only 3 Mandarin Oranges from Boss
Besides beers, nuts, and traditional Chinese kuih, boxes of mandarin oranges also symbolize the arrival of Chinese New Year in Malaysia without explicitly stating it. It's a common practice for Malaysians to exchange boxes of mandarin oranges during this festive season.
However, one Malaysian man expressed dissatisfaction upon receiving a box of mandarin oranges from his employer. In a widely shared post reshared by Wa Fans, the man voiced his frustration over the meager amount of mandarin oranges he received – just one box meant to be shared, with each person limited to only taking 3 pieces.
"My kid alone can consume half the box of oranges," he lamented.
In his caption, he expressed a wish for his workplace, a large company, to experience setbacks and closure due to what he perceived as stinginess towards its employees.
"It's not even a substantial box. Ridiculous," he vented, displaying a thumbs-down gesture for the modest gift.
After the video circulated, the man faced criticism for his apparent lack of gratitude. Shortly after, he posted another video to clarify his stance.
"I'm not ungrateful; my boss is just unwilling to be generous," he explained.
The man clarified that his intention was not to be unappreciative but rather to highlight what he believed was a lack of appreciation from his employer.
"I'm not demanding respect. It's acceptable to forego bonuses, but a little acknowledgment would suffice," he expressed.
The man, who identified himself as a crane operator, emphasized the hazardous nature of his job and workplace, stating that all he desired was some recognition.
"I consistently strive to meet my boss's expectations, even at the risk of my own safety."
He later apologized for his wish for misfortune to befall his workplace.
"It's alright. Sometimes, people fail to comprehend unless they're in our position," he reflected.
However, the video has since been removed.
