Malaysian University Student Shares Surplus Food with Hungry Monkey, Shows Gratitude And Had Us In Tears
Experiencing hunger, especially involuntarily, is among the most distressing ordeals one can endure. Therefore, when presented with the opportunity to extend a helping hand and nourish a starving creature, the act is undeniably for the greater good.
Hazea, a Malaysian university student and TikTok user (@nsyhazea) currently enrolled at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), recently shared a heartwarming encounter on her account. While outside her building, she noticed a monkey patiently waiting and staring at her.
With a wrapped food item in her hands, Hazea tossed it to the monkey, who deftly caught it. The primate then climbed to a spot on an adjacent roof, slowly unwrapping the food to reveal its contents. Discovering it was Shawarma, a Middle Eastern sandwich she had purchased the day before, the monkey savored each bite with evident appreciation. In the video's conclusion, the monkey glanced at Hazea, seemingly expressing gratitude, before resuming its meal.
Explaining her decision, Hazea mentioned that she initially planned to discard the leftover Shawarma, realizing it had been kept for over a day. However, upon noticing the monkey, she chose to offer it to prevent waste and potential mess, as there were many monkeys around UKM.
Hazea's compassionate act received widespread praise, with many Malaysians expressing gratitude for her choice to provide sustenance to the monkey rather than letting the food go to waste. Some also marveled at the cleverness displayed by the monkey in catching and enjoying the sandwich.
