Malaysian Sets Up Sleeping Space Beneath Office Desk, Inspiring Others to Share Similar Stories
On some workdays, getting through the day can be particularly challenging. We've all experienced it! However, one Malaysian employee may have found a creative solution to catch up on much-needed rest, and it seems she's not alone in this practice.
A recent TikTok video posted by Nor Azliza βLizaβ Sadeli, under her page @lizalee888, has been gaining attention online. In the clip, Liza demonstrates how she has set up a cozy nap spot under her office desk.
In the video, Liza lays down a blanket and positions a pillow at one end for comfort. She then attaches a strip of curtain, which she sewed herself, to the edge of the desk to create privacy for her sleeping area.
Liza shares, "I can confirm that itβs comfortable underneath here, as itβs cold and dark."
After removing her shoes, Liza crawls under the desk and lays down on the blanket for her nap. Once her break is over, she neatly folds away her items and resumes her work.
Liza explains that she got the idea from watching similar videos online and decided to create her own "sleeping port" under her table.
"I'll have to find another spot next time to avoid being caught sleeping by my colleagues. But usually, there aren't many people in the office during work hours anyway," Liza adds with a light-hearted tone.
The video has sparked a conversation online, with many Malaysians admitting to practicing similar habits of napping in their offices.
"I've taken power naps in my office before. Once, I closed my eyes around 11 am and woke up at 4:30 pm without anyone noticing," one user comments.
Others share their preferred nap spots, including beanbags, closets, boxes, and even cars.
"Same here! I have a room to myself now, making it easy to nap. The carpeted floor allows me to take off my shoes and lay out a small mattress. Even a short power nap of 15 to 20 minutes leaves me feeling refreshed," another user shares.
While some find the idea intriguing, others express concerns about oversleeping or accidentally hitting their heads while napping under a desk.
"Not me, I snore too loudly! My whole office would shake," one user jokes.
