Senior Immigration Officer Questions Absence of Staff During Surprise Visit to PJ Branch
The Deputy Director-General of Malaysian Immigration, Datu Ken Anak Leben, conducted a surprise visit to the Kelana Jaya immigration office in PJ, catching many officers off guard.
Upon his arrival, Datu Ken observed long lines of people waiting to renew their documents, with some having queued since 6:30 am. During his visit, he noticed several counters without staff, raising concerns about the absence of immigration officers during working hours.
“Are there really no staff at the counters? Where have they gone? I need to report this to the director-general,” Datu Ken questioned.
An officer informed him that some staff members “have not come in yet.”
Datu Ken interacted with the crowd to better understand their frustrations, including ongoing system issues. He assured the public that he would address these problems with the officers.
A notable moment from the visit was Datu Ken reminding an officer to adhere to the dress code.
“Wear a name tag. We’re civil servants,” he said.
