A couple of heartwarming and hilarious videos showing a man rescuing a stranded monkey and giving it a ride across Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu, have recently gone viral on social media, leaving Malaysians in stitches.

Shared on TikTok by Amazon House Boat, a company offering houseboat rentals and tours in Tasik Kenyir, the videos have collectively garnered over 2.2 million views at the time of writing.

Rescuing a Mischievous Monkey in Tasik Kenyir

In the first video, the monkey is seen stranded in the middle of the lake, holding onto a rope given to it by the man on a small boat.

The man, speaking in a localized Terengganu dialect likely from Kuala Berang, instructs the monkey to hold the ropes and humorously expresses his frustration when the primate suddenly lets go.

The monkey then swims under the boat and floats for a few meters before staying still.

The man pilots the boat to the monkey, which once again swims under the watercraft.
