Aunties in Terengganu Delight Netizens by Baking Kuih with Goggles On
Amidst the bustling activity of a traditional bakery, the sizzle and smoke of delectable treats being prepared can sometimes cause discomfort for kitchen workers. However, a groundbreaking solution has emerged in a quaint cake shop in Terengganu, leaving netizens in awe.
In a recent video shared by @ohmyganung, which has now amassed over 300k views, the spotlight is on the Kuih Bakar Asap Kelong shop. Here, a team of elderly women, the backbone of this traditional baked goods establishment, is seen wearing full protective gear, including respiratory masks and durable eye goggles, to shield themselves from the kuih smoke. This initiative is both rare and commendable, showcasing a commitment to safety.
What's even more impressive is the use of thick gloves by the workers when handling containers of cookies, underscoring the shop's dedication to safety and hygiene.
Kuih Bakar Asap Kelong specializes in a variety of traditional kuih, all meticulously baked using a classic wooden stove. Their menu features a delightful array of treats, including baked cakes, nganang, beke nyor, bahulu, and more.
Netizens were quick to express admiration for the unique uniforms of the shop's employees, highlighting their calm composure in the face of challenging kitchen conditions. One netizen mentioned, "Wearing masks is a smart move by these aunties; smoke can trigger asthma and isn’t great for our lungs with prolonged exposure." Another jokingly commented, "Terengganu’s very own Breaking Bad style." The video received widespread praise for the meticulous safety measures implemented by Kuih Bakar Asap Kelong.
