Malaysian Police Caught Soliciting Bribe from British Couple on Van Tour: Pay RM300 at Station or RM100 on the Spot
Accusations against Malaysian police, ranging from rape to extortion, are unfortunately not uncommon. Recently, a viral video shed light on an incident where an officer was caught soliciting a bribe.
In the circulating video shared by user @doktorrezz, a British couple on a global van tour found themselves in Malaysia. They were stopped while traveling from Cameron Highlands to Ipoh, allegedly for speeding.
During the encounter, the police officer presented them with a dilemma: pay a fine either at the station or immediately on the spot.
In the footage, the officer informs the couple that he will issue a summons. They are given the option to pay RM300 at the police station or settle for RM100 on the spot.
Following the incident, the couple expressed their disbelief and questioned whether they were truly speeding.
Netizens swiftly responded, expressing concern about the normalization of bribery:
"Such behavior is unacceptable. Summons can easily be paid online."
"Bribery has become a pervasive issue in Malaysia."
"The calm demeanor of the police suggests this is a routine occurrence, which is alarming."

Baru kena saman dengan polis sebab speeding. Ada option nak bayar kat balai polis rm300 atau bayar RM100 kat polis on the spot.
Taktau plak kita ada option ni.
