Some Police Officers Gamble During Golf Games, Ayob Khan Reveals
KUANTAN: Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay has disclosed that some police officers engage in betting while playing golf.
Speaking on the importance of appointing and promoting trustworthy individuals over sycophants, Ayob highlighted the issue during a recent talk at the Kuantan City Council's Integrity Day celebration.
He pointed out that some officers play golf with their superiors regularly to secure promotions, saying, "Playing golf on weekends is fine, but doing so on weekdays and engaging in betting is unacceptable."
"People have told me, 'Your officers aren't bad, Datuk, betting with large amounts of cash while playing golf.' If I catch them, there will be consequences," he warned.
In a separate statement, Ayob revealed that disciplinary action has been taken against 6,646 police personnel, including senior officers, between 2020 and September this year. Offences ranged from criminal activities and corruption to drug-related and syariah violations, resulting in dismissals, demotions, pay cuts, and other penalties.
