Maid Mixed Urine into Food, Causing Family to Fall Sick for Months
Police in India have arrested a 32-year-old woman for allegedly mixing her urine into her employer’s family’s food, which caused them to fall ill.
The suspect, Reena Kumar, had been working as a maid for 8 years in Ghaziabad without any previous issues with her employer.
The shocking act was caught on CCTV cameras that had been installed in the family’s kitchen. Kumar, who lives in Shanti Nagar, had worked with the family for several years, but recent stress or severe depression may have driven her to commit the act.
The family reported the incident to the police on October 14, after several members fell ill from food prepared by Kumar. Suspicious, they discreetly installed CCTV, which captured her mixing urine into their food.
“For the past few months, my family has been suffering from health issues, and the CCTV footage showed that she urinated into a container and mixed it with the chapati,” a family member said.
Police have launched an investigation under Section 272 (Acts Causing the Spread of Dangerous Infectious Diseases), according to the Times of India.
"During questioning, she repeatedly denied the accusations, but when we presented the video evidence, she went silent and later changed her statement," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Wave City, Lipi Nagayach.
