Klang's First Stray Cat Park Set to Open in August, Inviting Cat Lovers to Visit
Klang is set to welcome its first stray cat park very soon.
Currently under construction in Taman Bandar Klang and scheduled to open this August, the government-led initiative aims to provide a safe space for stray cats.
The park will house stray cats caught by the Klang Municipal Council and may also allow the public to adopt these animals.
Although details are limited, the park already features containers, a sand pit, and large grassy areas where the cats can roam freely.
This isn't the first stray cat park in Malaysia.
A similar park was established by the Sepang Municipal Council in Taman Tasik Cyberjaya in February 2023 to protect street cats in the Sepang district.
Rescued cats are assessed by a veterinarian for health issues, vaccinated, and cleaned before being housed in the cat park.
The park includes an Intensive Care Unit with cat medication and supplies, and a veterinarian checks on the cats a few times a week.
Visitors are welcome to adopt the cats once they have fully recovered from any health problems. Donations for cat food and litter are also appreciated.
According to the Selangor State Legislative Assembly, this initiative is part of broader efforts to address the issue of stray dogs and cats in Malaysia.
Through an animal adoption programme, the public can adopt these animals from shelters. Additionally, the state government plans to increase awareness programmes encouraging pet owners to neuter their pets.
