"Do you recognize me?" - Crocodile Keeper Recounts Lunchtime Chat with Croc
The life of a crocodile keeper holds immense fascination, and fortunately, platforms like TikTok allow people to share glimpses of their daily experiences.
One such keeper, known as BangBuya, reportedly employed at the Melaka Crocodile and Recreational Park, frequently shares snippets of his work on TikTok.
In his recent viral video, amassing 5 million views, he is seen engaging in conversation with a crocodile named Jamal during lunchtime.
In the footage, Jamal waits near the gate as the keeper places a bucket of chicken on the ground.
"It's time to eat, son," the keeper remarks.
However, Jamal appears to have different intentions and lunges at the keeper, who promptly closes the door. After a brief moment, Jamal retreats into the water, while the keeper reassures, "Be patient. You're always like this during mealtimes."
Approaching cautiously, the keeper is met with another lunge from Jamal. Undeterred, he gently addresses the crocodile, "It's me, it's uncle. Don't you recognize uncle anymore, son?"
The clip concludes with the crocodile appearing somewhat remorseful for its actions.
Commenters speculated that the crocodile was simply too hungry, while others urged caution to the keeper. One user remarked, "When it's mealtime, he doesn't distinguish between uncle or aunty."
