Chinese Woman's Enthusiastic Love for Haidilao Hotpot Leads to RM175K Expenditure Over 9 Years
Resisting our favorite food is a challenge we often struggle with. In times of difficulty, some individuals seek comfort by frequenting their preferred dining establishments to indulge in their beloved dishes. For one woman in China, the renowned Haidilao hotpot chain became her sanctuary.
The remarkable part? Her love for the hotpot is so profound that over the span of 9 years, she astonishingly spent a staggering RM175,000 solely on this culinary delight! Setting aside the financial aspect, one can't help but wonder if she ever grew weary of this flavorful hotpot.
On an average frequency, the woman visited Haidilao every five months throughout the 9-year period. Ms. Kong, the woman in question, shared that she became a member nine years ago during her initial visit to Haidilao. Impressively, she disclosed her highest achievement—consuming Haidilao 12 times a week. Essentially, on certain days, Ms. Kong had identical meals for both lunch and dinner, subtly conveying her immense fondness for Haidilao without explicitly declaring her love.
Ms. Kong substantiated her devotion by showcasing various medals she earned on the Haidilao App through a posted screenshot. She mentioned, "I even choose to dine at Haidilao for family gatherings and company dinners. Witnessing the growth in consumption brings me immense satisfaction."
Despite occasional company, Ms. Kong acknowledged that most of her dining experiences occurred in solitude, as depicted in a video shared on Weibo. Nonchalantly, she labeled her extravagant Haidilao indulgence as "just my expensive hobby."
