Body of 23-Year-Old Malaysian Singer Discovered in Klang River After Being Reported Missing Following Jogging Session

A body was discovered floating in the Klang River, and it has been confirmed by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to be that of the late Malaysian singer, Nidza Afham, who had been reported missing since Tuesday night (August 13).

In an official statement, Selangor's Chief Police Officer, Dato Hussein Bin Omar Khan, announced that Nidza’s body was found around 7:30 PM on August 14. The body was subsequently sent to Shah Alam Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

What happened to Nidza, and where was he last seen?

In an Instagram post by Nidza’s sister, @aufahaniee, she appealed to the public for help in finding her brother, who had taken an e-hailing ride to Stadium Sultan Sulaiman in Klang to go jogging. Aufahanie also provided a detailed timeline of her brother’s disappearance:

Nidza, who was just 23 years old, boarded his e-hailing ride at 7:54 PM and arrived at Stadium Sultan Sulaiman 23 minutes later.

At 9:04 PM, Nidza last texted his girlfriend. After receiving no response for over two hours, his girlfriend and Aufa tried calling him at 11:53 PM, but he did not answer.

Nidza's last known location was traced to the Klang Bridge area, also known as Kota Bridge.

Around 2 AM, Aufa and her family went to the bridge to search for Nidza, where they found his wallet and phone.

"His cash and debit card were missing. Two men in the area also assisted us in searching for Nidza. The perpetrator had arranged Nidza’s phone and wallet on the bridge. A police report has been filed."

Aufa also examined her brother’s phone and found nothing suspicious.

"We didn’t find any evidence of debts or conflicts. He had completed his run too."

The search for Nidza ended when the police delivered the tragic news to Aufa's family. Stadium Sultan Sulaiman is only 2.3 kilometers from Kota Bridge.

Robbery?

As of now, PDRM has not disclosed further details about the case. However, initial investigations suggest robbery as the primary motive, given the absence of Nidza’s cash and debit card.

His identification card and student card were still in the wallet.
