Anwar Scheduled for Online Meeting with Google Today
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to engage in an online meeting with tech giant Google today, with a focus on Malaysia's appeal to foreign investors. While he refrained from divulging specifics, Anwar highlighted Malaysia's sustained attractiveness to foreign investment interests.
During the Prime Minister's Department Monthly Meeting, Anwar underscored the nation's economic growth priorities, citing significant interest from foreign investors. He lauded Microsoft's recent RM10.5 billion investment announcement in Malaysia.
Anwar also disclosed insights from his recent visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where the kingdom pledged substantial investment in Malaysia through its renewable energy giant over a decade. He praised Saudi Arabia's swift decision-making process and expressed aspirations for Malaysia to emulate such efficiency.
Reports indicate that Saudi Arabia's renewable energy giant ACWA Power intends to invest over US$10 billion in Malaysia over the next ten years, with proposed collaborations, including projects with local company Cypark Resources Bhd.
Anwar emphasized Saudi Arabia's confidence in Malaysia, attributing it to the country's stable political environment, clear leadership policies, and efficient governance demonstrated by civil servants and government-linked companies.
