After management banned homestays and Airbnb, guests were left stranded outside of an Ipoh apartment
A few months ago, Penang locals had had enough of the noise and parking issues that came with having Airbnb and homestay guests in their community. In the end, they publicly expressed their disdain of Airbnb and homestays by erecting banners and other signs.
And it appears that other places are following suit right now.
HandsomeCool666, a netizen, posted on his TikTok account about how guests have been left stuck outside The Cove, Ipoh, and have been refused access after the building management chose to forbid homestays and Airbnbs.
"I've already scheduled a homestay at The Cove, but I can't get in," he wrote. Because The Cove has already outlawed homestays and Airbnbs as of May 3, 2023. I feel sorry for everyone that.
Several apartments have displayed "No homestay, No Airbnb" banners on their balconies, indicating that they support and concur with the building management's decision, suggesting that not just the management opposes Airbnbs and homestays operating within the apartment complex.
Even a speaker that yells "No homestay, No Airbnb!" on a regular basis has been erected.
