"One never showed, while the other fled" - Malaysian Influencer Spent RM50K in 6 Months to Employ 2 Maids
On her Instagram story, local model and influencer Gatita Yan recounted her challenging experience with the maid-hiring process, which turned out to be far from easy. In a span of just 6 months, she found herself spending RM50,000 in the pursuit of domestic assistance.
In the initial incident, Gatita incurred a loss of RM20,000 upon discovering that she had fallen victim to a scam orchestrated by the agent she trusted to facilitate the hiring of a maid.
"Not only did the agent cease communication, but he also failed to secure a maid for me, even after a two-month wait."
"Efficient agent, but not the maid."
A few months later, Gatita sought the services of another agent recommended by a close friend. This time, she felt a sense of relief as the agent proved to be efficient and responsive, ultimately resulting in the successful placement of a maid in her household.
However, the period of tranquility was short-lived.
"Three months later, the maid ran away."
Gatita did not elaborate on the reasons behind the maid's decision not to fulfill her work commitments.
Acknowledging her lack of experience in dealing with maid agencies, Gatita admitted to placing trust in her friend's recommendation, only to realize that the seemingly favorable situation was too good to be true.
"They can promptly replace the maid if she runs away. And, three months later, she indeed ran away."
