Malaysian Not Happy About Extra Costs for Children's Graduation at Luxury Hotels
Malaysian actress Adrea Abdul recently raised concerns on her TikTok (@adreaabdul), shedding light on a common frustration among parents: the financial burden of their children's graduation ceremonies. She emphasized that these expenses can be quite substantial, with fees reaching up to RM200 per child, not including parental attendance.
Adrea pointed out that if parents wish to join, they face an additional cost of RM150 per person, totaling RM300 for both. This accumulates to RM500 for a child and their parents to attend, a figure she deems excessive.
She criticized the notion of hosting graduation ceremonies at hotels, suggesting it might be an attempt to enhance the school's prestige unnecessarily. Adrea highlighted the financial strain this places on families, particularly those with multiple children and financial commitments.
She questioned the rationale behind expecting parents to shell out RM2,500 for all five kids, labeling it as emotional manipulation. Adrea advocated for greater communication between school principals and parents regarding graduation arrangements and urged the Ministry of Education to address the issue promptly.
