Malaysian Family Faces Threats from Loan Sharks With Petrol Bombs Due to Previous Tenant's Actions
Facing threats to your home and family from loan sharks is an ordeal nobody wishes to endure. Ling Ling, a 22-year-old resident of Johor, recently revealed that her household became a target of loan shark threats in February.
The initial threat occurred on the night of February 1, when the family's car was set ablaze. The second incident unfolded in the early hours of February 27, with Ling Ling receiving a CCTV notification while at a restaurant. The footage revealed her porch engulfed in flames, prompting her to urgently contact her father at home to extinguish the fire. Quick action from both her father and vigilant neighbors prevented the fire from spreading.
The family, in response to these threats, incurred significant expenses repairing the affected areas. In CCTV footage, three men in a white car can be seen hurling two objects—one resembling a petrol bomb and another a firestarter—toward their house, igniting the fire.
Expressing gratitude that the fire did not escalate and all family members and neighbors remained unharmed, Ling Ling recounted a disturbing discovery. Before the incidents, she had searched her home address on Facebook and stumbled upon a post by a man named Lee, featuring a picture of a person named Khoo. Khoo, the previous tenant of their current residence, had reportedly borrowed money from Lee, believed to be a loan shark.
Ling Ling emphasized that they have no association with Khoo, stating, "We are not involved in the money borrowing, and we have already lived here for 10 years. They are getting out of hand, and even the neighbors are terrified."
Having filed a police report, Ling Ling hopes for the swift arrest of the suspects involved in these threatening incidents.
