If they fail to pay the fine, they could face up to two months in jail. However, the court has allowed the arrears in SOCSO contributions to be settled in six installments, as reported by Sinar Harian and Utusan.
The charges include three counts against the company for failing to pay employer and employee SOCSO contributions for a 25-year-old employee, amounting to RM97.80 for the period from October to December 2023.
Additionally, charges 4 through 6 indicate that Bubblebee failed to pay a total contribution of RM17.40 for the same employee over the same three-month period, in violation of Section 18(1) of the Employment Insurance System Act 2017 (Act 800) and Regulation 9(1) of the Employment Insurance System (Registration and Contributions) Regulations 2017.
The seventh charge alleges that Bubblebee did not comply with a summons under Section 110(1) of the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969, issued at the SOCSO office in Selangor at 11 AM on January 10.
In November 2023, Shuib publicly addressed the issue, which gained attention after reports circulated about unpaid EPF contributions for Bubblebee employees. He stated that he had met with KWSP officers, who agreed to allow gradual repayment of the outstanding EPF, following reports that the company, which generated RM150 million in sales in its first three years, had missed several EPF payments.
