KTM to Provide Complimentary Commuter Rides on January 24th and 25th to Mark Thaipusam Celebration
Thaipusam stands as the most significant festival for our Hindu community, following closely after Deepavali. In celebration of this occasion, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) is extending a generous offer of free rides for KTM commuters on January 24th and 25th.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke has emphasized that despite the complimentary nature of the rides, commuters are required to scan their cards for check-in and check-out at the automated control gates (ACG), as reported by BERNAMA.
An estimated 250,000 passengers are anticipated to avail themselves of this service during the specified period, with the peak expected on January 25th.
To accommodate the surge in passenger numbers, the transport minister has announced that the KTM Komuter service, along with 28 stations, will operate around the clock from January 23rd to 26th.
"The additional commuter services will commence at 9:55 pm from Pulau Sebang to Batu Caves on Jan 23, maintaining a one-hour train frequency," stated the minister. He added, "The supplementary commuter services from the Port Klang station to Batu Caves will kick off at 11:39 pm, also adhering to a one-hour frequency."
Furthermore, the minister clarified that no additional train services are provided from Tanjung Malim to Batu Caves or vice versa. However, passengers from Tanjung Malim station have the option to transfer at Putra, Bank Negara, Kuala Lumpur, or KL Sentral stations to catch trains heading towards Batu Caves.
